When you look at a standard socket outlet, the line is the right entry hole of the lower two slots right?

When you look at a plug with the three pins facing towards you, the line is again on the right hand side.

So turn the plug over and plug it in, it's polarity is reversed?! The pin with the fuse is entering the neutral slot.

I have literally just woken up (and found myself strangely fixated on the plug and socket outlet on the wall by my bed) so surely I must be confused right? I must be having a blonde moment here!

noope. when you look at the plug with the pins facing you, the line is on the left.

Crap, I know why I'm confused! You wire a plug with the pins facing away from you, the line is on the right then! I feel so vunerable right now :( let the ribbing commence!

I really need to stop posting after just waking up! Must remember; "Engage brain before finger touches keypad!"

Doesn't it depend on the make of socket.

I don't have blonde moments any more, they are grey moments!

Talking of blonde moments, I was in a house the other day wiring a switch for some outside lights we'd put in the day before. Nothing extravagant, just a simple one way switch with a single cable entering the KO box, I had wired the brown into the common and I had just got to the point of stripping back the blue and I was stopped dead in my tracks. No word of a lie I then spent a minute just staring at the thing trying to figure out why the hell I'd brought a neutral down to the switch!!!

Then I noticed the brown sleeving I'd put on.

*FACEPALM*

I think I'm getting old :(

if you're going to haven, make sure you take a stock of beer with you. buggers charge £4.50 for a pint of newcastle brown

Haha! To be fair, I did have a disclaimer in place lol, I had literally just woken up seconds before posting! I'm sure I must have been having a horrific nightmare where I was struggling to wire a plug!
