Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can recommend any good debt collection agencies (preferably no recovery no fee).

Cheers.

Got £1500 I need recovering from a builder as well, debating the small claims route don't know how effective it is though, anyone had to do it?

LOL. Well it's complicated by the fact that he has left the unit and the industrial estate won't give over any contact details, and he hasn't bothered to register any new address with Companies House! Needless to say phone & e-mails go unanswered!

Good luck with that.

Thats why I dont do work for builders
If I recall the cash limit for small claims is £5000 (then procedure is called the 'simple proceddure'.
Remeber you have to be seen to try and recover the money before court so send invoices, reminders, 7 day notice (one of each)
Sent them signed for AND PROOF OF POSTAGE, the builder may refuse to sign for the signed for letters but you can prove you sent with a proof of postage.

I have taken people to court 3 times in 13 years and learned my lesson (won 3 lost 0), you pick up things.
For example once you have a decree on a landlord (or someone who has let properties) you can have a Sheriff Officer serve a 'rent arrestment order' on a tenant.
This means the tenant MUST pay any rent due to the sheriff officer until the debt is cleared and the landlord cannot sue the tenant for not paying any rent paid to the sheriff officer.
Is it a sole trader or ltd company?

I once bought the domain name of one builder who didnt pay and put a 'statement of opinion' up about him not paying. He paid the next day.

Take out a CCJ, if that doesn't work take it to the high court and get a writ the Sheriffs will be sent around, providing the court found in your favour.
