If you have been following my escapades on the PAT forum you will know that I was getting asked to do PAT testing but I had to refuse them because I could not justify the cost anyway started getting a lot of enquiries so bit the bullet I bought the Kewtech KT71 kit a code of practise went to nightclasses for my C&G bought a microwave tester and company labels and made up my documentation only thing was the minute I was ready to go the calls dried up:nono:. Tester in the garage for 3 months and not a call

But last week I got 2 and then 1 this morning great so I only want it to pay for its self as I see this as what the supermarkets call a loss leader. So there I am testing away and at the bottom of the case is one of those Kewtech 3 green or red LEDs socket testers now I have one of these in my Fluke case with my MFT 1553 (yes I know) so i thought plug it in to the socket and next minute 3 Bl**dy red LEDs flashing away and then 3 green O no I have just opened up a can of worms I said to myself anyway a lot of head scratching tested another couple of random sockets and the same anyway remembers I put the card that tells you what the LEDs say then I go out to the motor and get the other one in plug it in and I get 3 green LEDs then I read the card again and I see the words self test facility :dunce2:so now you know dont get caught out like me

kt71 is a nifty piece of simple kit...!! simple and smooth to operate!

Yes very pleased with it and I am glad that I bought the "bundle" version as individually it would have cost a lot more the carry case is a bonus as it has a lot of pockets and plenty of space for plug tops and fuses as I said I am only looking for it to pay for itself so far I have done 3 jobs made £150 and my total outlay was £460 for the tester £30 COP £200 for the course £35 for the Microwave tester and £50 for company printed labels that will last a long time plus it is a good add on to the business although I dont want to do it day in day out but at the same time on a cold wet winters day and no work in then yep it will tie me over
