Have now decided it's way too basic...

£14 cable software that I've just seen on a well-known trading site is ideal for what I need.

Bin the excel idea! I prepared a cable calc sheet from my 16th Ed training back in 2000 that I tried to use for calculation purposes. I'll try the software instead of phaffing around.
