Hello,
Just wondering if anyone knows of a steel fish tape that is springy like they used to be, not like the Draper and other similar types which are fine for straight pulls but not so easy to feed around bends. The steel is a bit too thick I think. I've used the nylon tpe but they soon become coiled and not usable for feeding any distance back!
many thanks in advance for replies

I've got 2 fish wires. One is used for reasonably short runs, and I have a larger one for long runs or larger diameter tube. Obviously for ducting you need a cobra.

Curtain wire is particularly flexible and works in otherwise difficult situations.

The really old ones were flat, they could cut into insulation if pulled hard enough!

This is probably what you want: RS 290-2560 £18.45 each
Coiled spring steel wiremans tape 10m (& 20mtr) 5.5mm dia

drain unblocker. £1 from the pound shop.

This has got to be the most used "non electrical tool" that is used regularly by electricians

I dont have a clue how good they are at cleaning drains, but for fishing cables, there is no tool in the electrical arsenal of tools that can compare with the drain cleaner for usefullness
