Funny how when we were allowed to live off the countries credit card for years these companies got away with it and when things get tough they get more creative .
Nothing new though 35 years ago the family run Vesties who were a big meat importing company paid £10 tax on millions earned and good old Maggie said Good luck to them

doesn't really work when it's a coffee shop though.

Why are governments of all political flavours so spineless? "We can't let the banks fail" "we can't push too hard on big business" "we mustn't go too far against the EU" etc etc etc. What a load of nonsense! Tell the lot of them the way it is, hand them the bill and collect what's owed. If they leave the UK, threaten this or that, or try strong arm tactics give them the same treatment as any other bully or bulleffluent merchant, a hammering. Only in this instance a financial one.

You forget the the Lemmin approach by some people where need to be seen with that £2-£3 coffee and bun in their hand as they think they look sophisticated going to their work in the morning

Its not how many years its a computer system that flags you up with how can this guy live on fresh air run a car pay a mortgage have credit cards live in this post code and so on in other words you cannot spend more than you earn unless you can prove you are living off your savings or your partner

Which is true for a Sole Trader. However, if the business is a Ltd Co and you are an employee then it can run at a loss as long as there is credit to keep it going. If the shareholders (you as the director and shareholder) bail it out with loans from your own funds (even the wages it pays you) you can then take that money back untaxed.
Keep shifting the money around, rip off some suppliers, contractors, customers, banks etc by paying out dividends which are loans and credit rather than earned proffit. Then fold the company, start another one and the merry go round continues.
