Subby job, student apartments, I've been sent in to test & cert + sort out the snags after the company lads have finished the first and 85% of the second fix (I have to do the rest,,,,, oh the joy).

Every room is the same, every fault is the same, 3 core+e with the wrong colour conductors used (spec that grey is neutral btw as per NIC inspector). 2-way lights mixed up with the next door room that will be going on 3-PH soon (temp supply on single phase atm). oh the temporary supply at this moment in time for 19 apartments is protected by a 6A MCB (LED lights only, 19 rooms X 9 lights each X 6w... do the math lol).

This place has 110 apartments!!! I've only done 8 so far and I'm bored out of my head already :mad2: By the time I'm half way through this job I may start self harming :38:!!!! It is like working on a production line in a factory, same thing every bloody 5 mins. It's only the banter on site that keeps us all sane (Friday we are stitching the apprentice up, I'll post a thread in here  )

New builds doing EIC's up to 50 is ok, this place is doing my head in already. Only another 102 to go :1eye:

Good luck, switch off brain, engage autopilot and think of England!

Switch off brain, turn on the mobile phone radio app, dont get caught dancing to Bon Jovi whilst on a hop up lol.

What mundane jobs have others done in the past?

PAT ! Once had the displeasure of carrying out a sweetener as part of a large contract for a company I worked for. The deal was that whilst doing the full new fire alarm system for a medium to large secondary school, we would also provide labour to do all the PAT for the school. 5000 items and a hand written log to be created. 2 weeks of that and I had to demand it was someone else's turn.

I once spend eight months making pyro ends off. And even that was more exciting than that appliance testing.

So you had to take out the black conductor, take off the blue sleeving, put on brown sleeving and place in the switch live. Then take out the grey conductor, take off the brown put on the blue and place in the neutral!! And you had to do that at least 110 times!!!

Blimey Paul, I expect you're still there!! I can imagine you looking and moving like a robot doing the same function over and over again!!

STOP...Have a beer... right now! :54:

I'll work it out tomorrow the amount of individual tests.

Atm on the dead tests it is 4950 times I have to hit the test button on my MFT.

Almost half way through btw. Although whilst driving home every night I see numbers flashing up like in the films Matrix!!! Also got w4nkers cramp from writing the certs out.

If there all the same, should just do em on a laptop and change the figures around

OMG I would love to but.... My signature on the certs at the end of the day.

Lol, I actually get excited when I find a fault :stuart: Means I can use my brain to fix something that someone else has broken (plasterers/boarders/tin men mostly). Only another 2+ weeks to go! Then we can move onto testing the new 3ph sub station with main supply to the building and all the new shinny 3ph sub boards feeding each floor. At last, something that breaks me away from the "chicken factory".

I've moved on from self harming.... Mrs M has agreed to whip me with 4mm earth singles across my legs. It takes the pain and boredom from my head.

Glad to hear things are progressing; it is always good to find coping mechanisms (I think:sad3::74:)
Only 2 weeks to go, practically finished!
