Hi I have toyed around with the idea of buying a cross line laser to help with fixing sockets etc and have seen 2 that seem to tick the boxes but the price difference is massive so wondered if anyone here had used either or have any idea of why?

The first is the Stanley Cll I can get this for £57 delivered and it includes a 3m pole for mounting it.

The second is the dewalt DW807 which looks similar (excludes pole) but the cheapest I can find is £140 delivered.

Any idea between the 2?

Hi Eskimo39,

I have got the CL2 and the CLL model and are both great bits of kit. Would have bought 2 CLL's if i knew they were basically the same unit considering theres about £50 difference in price. Use them dailly so are not a fad. Great for conduit and setting spotlights out. Having 2 makes dado a piece of **** too. Come in handy for fitting cupboards and worktops and makes tiling easy. Like i say well worth the money and saves so much time.

To be honest the CLL comes with a pole to allow you wedge between ceiling and floor which is very good. The CL2 comes a very small tripod and a magnectic mount. All honesty i use them freestanding ie. on the floor or table so the mounting units are rarely used. My reason for buying both meant that for the price of the dewalt i had both units and a device's that enabled me to fit in any scenario.

I have used the Dewalt and there's no difference in qaulity or use.

Must admit, i have been thinking about getting one of these for a while now and never got round to doing anything about it.

I have one in my garage with other tools but use a cheap one £2.99 from BP garage a yr ago small and works great ! even has a bubble level on top and side etc

i use a 360 degree black and decker one comes on a tripod i got it from homebase as end of line for 40quid. great for setting out kitchens, beats paying for refitting boxes if the floors not level

Best laser level about in my oppionion is the BOSCH BL2L Professional Self Levelling Laser.

It comes with its own tripod.

the cheapest ive found this for is £146.98 including VAT + Delivery, So i brought one!

Dont know if you have any FOCUS DIY shops in your area, but they had a laser level on offer the other day when I was in there. Maybe worth a look.

We use HILTI lasers, which are immense, but costs an arm and a leg £400 I think, boss pays not me

You won't regret buying a self leveling unit.

I used one on one site and needed to ensure that 60+ plinths were at the correct height. Each plinth needed to be the same height as the yet to be installed raised floor. Some of these plinths were 63mts away, yet did the task brilliantly.
