Lighting Symbols

Just purchased some downlighters, that don't have the twin square symbol indicating a double insulated fitting.

Although they do have have a CE marking, therefore complying with European standards.

They only have a Line and Neutral connection, in a choc box type fitting with no obvious connection point on the fitting itself for a CPC

Therfore would I be right in assuming they are double insulated, due to the fact that most of our European neighbours dont use a CPC, and these fitting are CE approved.

Thanks

I'd return them. If you're installing them for yourself, you make the decision. But if you're installing them for someone else I wouldn't take the risk.
The manufacturer should know what the product standards and regulations are, and it seems in this case that they don't.

Simon.

That was my initial thought, but they look almost identical to other Class 2 downlighters I have installed.

I also have the problem of not having a CPC connection point.

would still like to know a conclusive answer regarding the CE approval, but as WDMDL suggests, I think they may be on their way back to the supplier.
