I'm having issues with finding our Maglocks in the released position every morning (7 am). This was happening for a few weeks and they would be found in the released position with no history of power outage, Fire incident or brown out on the Fire Panel. After inspections, neither the Fire techs or Alarms techs could locate the issue. A couple weeks ago it appeared that the problem had fixed itself and the Maglocks were in the secured position but again this morning they were in the unsecured position. I will put back in the secure position using the key switch and they will hold all day. As it's not a 24 hour operation, there is no record of the exact time they would go in the unsecured postion (release). I have 4 Maglocked doors with two powered revolving doors. Has anyone experienced this or could shed some light as my Fire contract and Alarm contract are not resolving the issue. Thanks

I’m expecting the mag locks to be “always on” and the fire alarm signal simply a relay that turns off the power to the locks.
Also likely that it’s only 12 or 24v to the magnets.

A “just” loose connection or a broken cable could cause the intermittent loss of power anywhere on the circuit, not just at the relays in the fire panel.

Is there any machinery that might start up overnight where vibration throughout the building might dislodge the connection momentarily.

All correct on the 'always on' and require 24v to the magnets. I've asked my Security (FOB access) team to test each power connection. The only place that vibration might happen is on the Loading dock MAG but nothing in that area that would happen overnight. Still stumped but hopefully they find the issue. Apparently the Power supply is from an old access control system and they cut corners and reused it instead of installing a new one. Thats where we're starting.

If the power supply unit is suspect, it might be just able to support the system load under good conditions, but when the voltage from the utility supply varies e.g. as the daytime load comes on suddenly, it drops out, which could explain the daily cycle of releasing.

Problem finally resolved. After switching a relay in the fire panel, and then switching the power supply for the mag locks, the issue was with the key switch. There appeared to be another relay for the key switch. Once changed we haven’t had a problem since.
