Hi all i was wondering when you buy a multimeter are they already calibrated or do you have to get that done yourself ? Thanks for looking and replying.

Depends where you buy it from most come with certificate others charge you extra for certificate that way they can see meter £40/£50 cheaper then when you read the small print certification is extra.

Hope that helps

Not really mate its always best to be prepared and if your college is anything like the one I went to you would be better off with your own meter I made that mistake and spent a lot of time waiting for a meter to become available to do my testing. If I had my own meter I could have just got on with it.

Chris

I hear yer lol. Standin around waiting all the time. I have finished all my practicles for this year but would be a good idea to get one for next year and get to grips with my own one. Thanks again acat.

Much better to have your own kit. However I would leave it until about a month before you start your course and the other thing is how many types did you get to use and which one did you get on with the best. Ive started a sticky thread which kit and why so have a look at that as well it may help you decide which one you actually want.

Good luck

Chris

Always used a megger bm222 in college. I have read your thread on multimeters and people seem to go for the megger 1553 its abit pricy but will save time in the long run. Thanks mate.

If you dont need bluetooth go for the 1552 exactly the same just no bluetooth some have said that the bluetooth is not all its cracked up to be and have had problems, not that I am biased but my meter is a 1552

Chris

No mate its back to pen and paper but some of the blokes who may have been unlucky say that the bluetooth was not downloading properly so they paid the extra and had to resort to pen and paper anyway. It may well have been them and the way they were using it havent tried one myself.

Chris

Back to the good old days of pen and paper. Plus if you cant read the results then no one can say they are wrong haha.
