hello sparks,

i am hopefully doing my compeX shortly, this will at least apply for on-shore jobs.

now without my survival course i couldnt work off-shore.

what im looking for is other peoples opinions on which they feel is best.

On-shore versus Off-shore

obviously both will have there pro's and cons and i like some of you more experienced guys to fill me in

Offshore cons:

Being away from home and missing out on all that entails
Some of the rigs can be hovels
Food can sometimes be poof

Offshore pros:

Money
Time off
Quicker career progression if you want it
Can travel and see the world with the job

Onshore cons:

If you wish to earn the level that you do/did offshore you need to work a lot of hours(generally 7 days a week for at least 10 hours) or work away from home
Working almost every day

Onshore pros:
if your working at home then you have your full social life back, in your own bed every night and with your mrs. (If working away then to me it defeats the purpose of working onshore)

thats my views, others will be different
