Discuss Selecta DNA Asset Marking Kits in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

Have heard of it being used, of course you are reliant on both the stolen item being recovered so that it can be returned to you but also for the police to bother running the checks to identify the item is yours.
the police i feel being the weak link in this system...
i use immobilise, I have marked up all my tools, kit etc with uv markers, security seals and uploaded serial numbers etc to the immobilise databse, so if stolen then if they see the sticker or uv markings (which are faintly visible in day light) the plod might bother to check the details via the database.

Surrey Police we’re promoting it so assuming recovered property will be checked. Then again I had a caravan stolen last week and nearly got disciplined for trying to investigate my own crime. I’m lucky to be bailing out after 30 years next week. When I joined the Met I remember an old area car driver saying ‘the job’s f****d’ I can tell you now it well and truly is. Unless it’s Murder it isn’t investigated.

@FatAlan It got so bad around here that in Bristol somebody issued a letter before action to the police telling them if they didnt investigate the burglary at their house they would take civil action against the police and seek a judicial review.. this despite the homeowner supplying good quality cctv and statements identifying the suspects....
suffice to say the police quickly arrested and charged somebody ...only for them to get a suspended sentence... its a mad world
