So you are removing threads again for no reason? you know what I am reffering to, what is the excuse this time, someone not combed their hair properly?
You cannot upset me fella, I give it so I take it.Mine might have been frowned upon lol
I was only joking with MDJ though
This will be the next thread removed, I recommend who ever removed the thread be dismissed from the moderating team, appalling decision, shocking in fact, Gasp!!!!!!
If this were the 3000 club I would have said Rollox, as it is the arms I will say your losing it and I disagree, what does abrasive mean? I read that thread twice from the first to the last post, there were no problems with it at all, your surely jesting?Just because a thread disappears doesn't mean it's been deleted, if a thread is being assessed by staff it may well disappear from view for a time.
Some of the earlier replies especially in that thread were abrasive and unnecessary and I've removed them.
You really want to do this? Okay, I'll start with these comments which were directed at the OP;
'You are talking complete crap'
'another Friday night thread which is just appallingly ridiculous and quite frankly nothing less than desperate'
'Why don't you start again and speak English?'
Any one of these comments is likely to provoke the kinda reaction that's going to end in a fight. If it appears to be a stupid question then rather walk away from the thread.
To be quite honest I am quietly fuming about it, as you said Des, there was no nasty comments, no problems at all, yet it has been removed, an inexperienced mod with fast fingers perhaps?
What was wrong with that. The OP was a half baked ill thought out post.
I never said that Glenn did I?I'm assuming this is for me Mike, Inexperienced yes I will give you that, fast fingers not for a long time![]()
Actually, I think I may start another thread about looping to switches....
I never said that Glenn did I?
It was a very very DIY post, the sort of post we have seen where wanabees ask silly questions, once I had posted those comments the Op had then realised the nonsence posted and then she gave more info, I then gave some help regarding joining the trainee forum, and was also very friendly afterwards when she started posting more info, once the thread got moving and the OP had given more it became fine, It ended well, you could have edited it should you have felt it needed it without removing it from the forum, I had no idea you intended to put it back up, we have seen many threads disappear here before hence my thread here, the fact you put it back was fair enough and I apologise now regarding the thread title here, out of interest why did you remove DPGs posts? they seemed fine to me.What would have been wrong with rather asking for clarity? Telling someone to start again and speak English is looking for a reaction when you've obviously understood their post because you just told them they're 'talking crap' and they're 'desperate'.
Of course, hopefully it will not mean you moderate every thread from the forum.I was going on the inexperienced remark, I am the new kid on the block so am naturally going to be judged on my decisions for a while and thats fine mate, but I am going to have to moderate threads as a moderator.
To be fair to you no reason, I stand corrected and will be more careful next time. What would have been wrong with rather asking for clarity? Telling someone to start again and speak English is looking for a reaction when you've obviously understood their post because you just told them a few minutes previously they're 'talking crap' and they're 'desperate'.

Personality plays a big part in whether or not a person is a good forum moderator. A good forum moderator needs to be calm and needs to be able to stand an argument without becoming heated. They need to have a good amount of common sense and they need to be able to handle having harsh words ----ed at them. They cannot go easy on any one member and they must treat all members fairly. They need to understand their position and not take advantage of it or abuse their powers. Another good quality would be consideration. Good mods need to be considerateCourse not Mike, just yours![]()
It did end fine in this case because she ignored the comments but more often than not similar threads don't end fine.It was a very very DIY post, the sort of post we have seen where wanabees ask silly questions, once I had posted those comments the Op had then realised the nonsence posted and then she gave more info, I then gave some help regarding joining the trainee forum, and was also very friendly afterwards when she started posting more info, once the thread got moving and the OP had given more it became fine, It ended well,
If you try to moderate a thread that's open the goalposts keep moving because many of the posts you're editing or deleting are getting quoted in new posts still being made. It just makes life difficult so usually a thread is unapproved first then moderated which will look like it's been deleted. If the thread has descended into complete chaos then sometimes there's so little left or sometimes the thread just doesn't make any sense after editing so it's just deleted.you could have edited it should you have felt it needed it without removing it from the forum, I had no idea you intended to put it back up, we have seen many threads disappear here before hence my thread here, the fact you put it back was fair enough and I apologise now regarding the thread title here, out of interest why did you remove DPGs posts? they seemed fine to me.

I agree my hairy friend, however if you make a mistake we will let you know :biggrin:Well then based on that I think I will make a very good Moderator , Because I like to think I'm a level headed, considerate and fair person.
