Has anyone got any idea if these things are any good?

Been looking at getting one for a while now, but the prices seems to vary from very cheap to bloody expensive.

Which ones of any are worth buying as I am also sick to death of pulling them too tight and them snapping.

I think they are only worth while if you're using a LOT of Tie Wraps - such as when you're wiring panels etc.

I remember when these tie wraps first came onto the market and to us they were like the Industrial Revolution all over again. We were making instrument panels etc. for the steel industry and wires were all bunched and laced with lacing cord - quite a laborious operation involving lots of knots dabbed with Shellac - the introduction of tie wraps changed all that and saved a lot of time. We didn't have the "proper" tools for them, I'm not sure if they'd even been invented at the time.

I have to say mate, that I've been using cable ties since 1986 and have never broken one by pulling it too tight.
Either you are using rubbish ties, or you've been on the spinach....:sailor:

I do however wish electricians would flush-cut ties and not leave razor-sharp edges.

I agree. in all the years I've used cable ties, I can count on one hand the amount of times one has broken on me. those times I've either used too small a tie, or cheap crap ties.

tried a couple of them tools once. after 2 days they went in the bin. bloody useless.

Agreed, we've also tried several over the years and they've all ended up in the bottom of a drawer somewhere. The only wrap tools we use regularly are the type for the stainless steel straps.
