Just doing my domestic installers course at the moment,

What tools will i need when i go out working, and what would be the typical cost of equiping my toolbox?

Hi Sean
First i would get your tester out the way this will cost anything from £300 up i use a kewtech kt61 multifunction tester its a good tester but cant do pfc so need to cal not a prob but quicker to get one that does pfc readouts also the other thing is it doesnt do multi insulation resistance testing as only has a fixed voltage of 500v so cant do selv/pelv not a prob but more anoying ! but you pays your money you takes your choice ! average tool kit inc tester would be anything from basic £500 inc lock off kit to silly money id go for a good basic to start and get vdu insulated tools but again which ones to buy is dep on available funds ! i would see what tools/testers your using on your course and go from there and your tutor will be able to give good advice.
Hope this helps
Regards
Tony.
Also get yourself a caliper as this will help in deturming cable/cpc size quickly & easily.

20 years ago a fellow apprentice came through to room I was working in and said give the calipers a miss mate I just nearly blew my hand off!
