My Boss is thinking of getting a set of CBs/Walkie Talkies so we can communicate easier between floor levels...Upstairs/downstairs, 3 storey houses etc...

Anybody have any recommendations? Thought I'd ask on here as always loads of good info...
Cheers

I have personally used motorola ones. I think you would need to see roughly what kind of range you would need on average and whether you need two-way, three-way, four way etc.

There are lots of differnt types with different features.

There are two types I believe licensed & non-licensed dependant on your type of work?

Licensed radios operate at high power on dedicated frequencies, providing long-range communications with no cross-channel interference. Non-licensed radios are low power and operate on a generic frequency, making them suitable for simple, short-range communications in a 'secure' environment.

Like you say the type you see in camping shops etc may do what you want?

You coulds try flebay for some?

All walkie talkies are 2-way....one person to another at any given time..but you can link them up by the same channel ( frequency).. one person talks at a time by sqeezing the talk buton then releases for the next person to reply....They are not like phones were as they have an open channel to all on the frequency sort of thing...

You can buy them from a pair to 4 to 6 etc.....and they have from 2 channels usually upto 20+ depending on make and how much you want to spend...
but deffo great for peeps/groups on larger sites etc...or multi floors in a building...always check the range of them....

this set has good reviews.. DORO WT87 Quad Long Range Walkie Talkie review - Discount DORO WT87 Quad Long Range Walkie Talkie reviews

p.s.. can you tell i used to use CB's as a teenager..lol lol....and as warren sez .. some need an operating licence..

Excellent Guys!!
Thanks for all the info here...

I'm starting with an Electrician on Tuesday. I've spent last 14 months on 2330 L2 & fortunately landed this position.

Walked away from the Print Trade at long last (after 17 years)...far too many job let downs in past few years, so have been hedging this Plan B...

Looking very much forward to it & will be on here more often now...
Thanks again
