What the best tool for taking out cut outs on consumer units,I generally use a stanley knife, but following an accident I am rethinking this, some sort of hot knife would be good if you can stand the honk of melted plastic and the poor customer might be put off, burning smell on an install cant be a confidence builder, any suggestions.

I got a 'tool' for opening the toner cartridge in a printer that was basically a cheap soldering iron with a 20mm thin metal tube on the end, the "seals" were blind grommets, I always wanted to use this for burning out 20mm holes but have not had the courage at a customer!
Safety wise if you have access you could use a fein type cutter.
I use a stanley knife, though!

Very good question actually, I use a Stanley and have had close shaves regarding accidents, and also used a hammer and screw driver and broken the board LOL, I will watch this thread hoping someone will come up with a better Idea haha
