Hi Guys I need some direction please.

I would like to become an electrician,

I've been trying to get on the city and guilds 2330 level 2/3 but every college I try are out of places.

Are there any courses which I could do now (as a complete beginner) ?

Thank you.

Binky,

I was in the same position recently. I live in London and looked for loads of places.. Eventually ended up going to a place called Technique Training in Chesterfield which was a 2 and a half hr drive but worth the effort.
They do a course called the Tec 20 which is sort of aimed at total beginners like us. The facilities are second to none and instructors are very patient. hope that helps.

I havent heard of it, o>k have you any more details?

have you tried further afield? how long ago did you apply for the 2330 because coming into the industry it would be the course I would be looking to do

I vet the applications for maintenance electricians where I work and I would expect to see c&g so it is worth it

I've heard of the TEC20.

I actually had a link to it in one of my (many) posts as I looked into it.

Damn! Which thread was it???? I'll check it out for tomorrow. Though you wont see it till Monday Monty!

Binky and Monty,

yes the TEC20 is industry recognized. The coursework and certificates are all c&g.
It covered the 2391 as well as 17th edition,Part P wiring regs and Pat testing..
It was hard work and definitely intensive but worth doing.
Their phone number is 01246 810 444 and you can find out more about the course syllabus on www.techniquetraining.co.uk
