Why does everyone want "it" doing before christmas. I am sick of people ringing me up and saying "can you put me an extra this that or the other up, or can you replace something or other BEFORE CHRISTMAS". Why? what is the importance of christmas and completing electrical jobs. Anyway bollox to em, i am fully booked up now:cool:
So yes i can do it before christmas, as long as its christmas 2011:D.

Anyway cant drive anywhere so i am off to chill at the pub, i can walk there and might win the quiz if i am the only one in:cool::D:D:D

I always try to say yes to every job. I do lots of small jobs in the evening when people return from work, people are generally delighted and I charge accordingly.

They put it off and put it off and think that flatscreen tellys and new cars are more imprortant than properly functioning electrics, then suddenly it's December, the mother in law's coming for crimbo and the swanky downlights need to go in. As has been said, I try and do it and I certainly price accoringly getting closer to Christmas - I started working for myself so I didn't have to do thinkgs I didn't want to like work over the Christmas period.

Just had a classic in today actually.

Regular customer we do an absolute bucket load for, been on at them ALL YEAR (since this time last year) to go for a re-lamping contract with us, so we could have replaced their 86 external TH400 halide lamps IN THE FREAKIN SUMMER, BEFORE THEY NEEDED THEM.

Why the hell would you wait until today, of all days when it is snowing, they can't load their stupid bloody lorries anyway, and they decide 90% of their external lighting DOESN'T flipping work. Duh!

Price now reflects the fact that they want me to contract frostbite as well as re-lamping.

Oh. Better yet. Cost per lamp they say.....£25 plus fitting plus VAT, I say.....oh, says he - we can get them for £14.50 plus VAT.....

"OK that's no problem, obviously anything you supply isn't guaranteed by me. OK? Get it? Got it? good"

Fit the lamps. Pop back in May when it's warm with the old air rifle......

Yup. Going to see them to do a count up tomorrow, assuming the pug's new "pop out" snow plough attachment works......

Suddenly, given there are another 48 internals to do too, they seem to think a re-lamping contract might not be such a bad idea.,...

How I love my customers.

Oh yeh and I suppose you want me to fit them for free at that price.

They did suggest it shouldn't cost more than a couple of quid per fitting to change a lamp......20 feet in the air, in the snow, off a hired cherry picker....

Go forth, I think was the jist of my reply :)

and its always outside lights before christmas too! I have done about 15 outside lights in the last week. What annoys me more is when you complain about not being able to feel your feet builders always comment on how soft you are. No its the fact its -10 outside and your pretending to be warm to look hard! Rant over.

Ah yes, the old 'I'm the apha-ist because I don't feel the cold' ruse.

I think they have to try and make us look small to make up for the fact that we know how to think and also do quite a dangerous job.

I know what you mean about outdoor lighting it's all Ive been doing for weeks. No wonder I'm all flu'd up.

Pants, poo, bum.....NO MORE I CANNOT FIT ANYONE IN UNTIL MID JANUARY.....Stick it where the sun dont shine!

You knew Christmas was comming.....IDIOTS!!!!
