    Buy a (not too) cheap solar controller off ebay and set it to charge your 12v lead acid storage battery. And you got 12vDC !

    Is work scarce for sparks right now? Or is it just me? I'm near Manchester and I usually do agency work but it seems a bit thin these days.

    I like that. OK but I get your point. The thing is they need to be manipulated to fit in with our side of the story. The payroll company should work for me. Not the agency.

    Thanks for the feedback and your opinion. Do you mean subbing to a contractor under a CIS arrangement or as a Ltd company? As for payroll companies; Wouldn't it be better if we could phone an agency and say "This is my payroll company. Work through them" ?

    Ive worked through a few different agencies and I am beginning to pick up on the way it works. I see that there are different arrangements with different agencies. Some agencies will pay on a CIS basis. (My preference). Others will not. They say its not legal. What the truth is I don't know...

    This is true. But we should not have to juggle the expenses to earn a fair wage. I think I'm going to investigate the CIS route. That seems to be an interesting option. Thanks gentlemen.

    How fair is agency work? This is a genuine question. I started work for an agency. Its the first time I have done this. I dont get paid by the agency, but by a some organisation that calls itself my employer. So the electrical contractor pays the employment agency and the employment agency...

    Intro

    I'm new to this forum. Chilliepot is not my real name!! I recently wrote my 17th edition (at last) and passed. Now I am working on my Testing and Inspection. Just to confuse the issue they seem to call it 2394/5 instead of the old 2391.
