Not sure thought I read something about it but I must be thinking of something else
Last point the existing tails are 16mm which will be fine as there will be little load being used. Anyone know how much roughly the DNO charge for coming out to pull the main fuse and back to reinstate supply...
Thanks for all the replies. Looks like back entry will be the best way to go.
On a side note I’ve seen online that suppliers are selling the semi blind grommets which it says are ip66 rated for use on cu’s. Would these comply with the new regs as I haven’t seen this method shown anywhere?
Cheers
Thanks for all the replies guys! It’s a T-N-CS earthing arrangement. As the board is going to be tight to the ceiling there won’t be room for trunking so may do the rear entry method. This is a photo of the old board being replaced.
Hey all,
I have just finished a rewire of a 1 bed house and just have the board left to install. I am a qualified sparky but now work as a project manger so haven’t carried out much domestic work in the last couple of years. I know that the requirements for installing consumer units has now...
I was told it is bonded under the floor and I had a low reading to earth from the pipe work but thought for the sake of putting a few meters of 10mm in at least I know it's done right
thanks for all the advice guys much appreciated. Had to take the gas bond to the boiler position as that is the first place it is accessible on entering the house so looped it onto the water there too.
Hi guys after some advice. Been called to job where the house has been renevated and rewired about a year ago and put in some addition lights and sockets. There is a 10mm Earth wire from the MET which I'm told is going to the incoming gas pipe under the floor but is not accessible and there is...
So am I right in saying that with these earthing nuts you gland the cable as normal and the earthing but just goes over the thread and is held with the grub screws? Then a fly lead from this to the MET?
Yeah this is the problem with the position of the board. I may have to consider placing a box as suggested to the side of the cu, gland into that and take the cores through the side. Any thoughts on this?
Yeah the cu has to go up against the ceiling really it's pretty tight for space and it's where all the cut-out and meter are so the owner wants it all boxed in when it's done.
