    If their power went out then the damage more than likely is not lightning but the surge which comes from the power company. As stated above we have SPD or surge protection device which can be installed in your main panel as close to the main breaker as possible.

    Sorry for the late reply but find out the frost line in your area and go a couple of inches below that. I personally have never heard of freeze protection for electrical conduit and wire. Good luck

    The best I can tell you is if each panel has a 4 wire service which means 2 hots, 1 neutral, and 1 equipment ground going to both panels from your main service panel then a third ground rod is not required.

    Improper Grounding Question - Outlet Receptacle

    The outlet should have a bare ground attached to the green screw and at no time should there be but one wire per screw. Purchase yellow wire nuts and twist the 2 wires together and use a price of the wire to terminate on the green screw. I hope this helps and good luck with your project.
