i'm having a new modular home installed to replace the house that burned down. the old service entrance was under ground and did not run under a normally used driveway. the local power company came out to check out the site in prep to installing the new service and told my i needed to place the service lines in 3" pvc 24" under the concrete drive. i understand that but they also told me i had to freeze proof the lines. i looked in 300.5 for buried lines and i just did not see anything for freeze proofing buried lines.
in doing internet research i find lots on water and sewer lines for freeze proofing. so would that same technique be the same for power lines?
it looks like for water and sewer lines you put a 3 sided cover over the lines without anything inside that cover but for the lines and conduit that your protecting from freezing. that seems to have something to do with frost heaving.
so can someone tell me where i look for frost proofing the service entrance lines going under the driveway? the power will be 200 amp under ground line from the power company. they are installing that part of the service to the meter base.
