    Repair a site transformer ?

    I'm repairing a 110 v 3 kva site transformer that the base cracked and all the sand leaked out, can anyone tell me exactly what the sand is there for and can I replace it with any dry sand or even just leave it out? The transformer won't be used on site but at home.

    Testing an Old motor for restoration ?

    I have acquired an old British Thompson Houston 1/3 HP BKS 2410 single phase motor on a pillar drill, it needs new bearings before I can test run it, my question is can I use a multi meter to check the windings and find out if its a go-er at this stage and worth restoring ? If so how ?

    Inverters.. 1. 56hz - 198 v 2. 67hz - 201 v 3. 51hz - 203 v Generator at 230 v - 1540 - 1600 hz That solves the mystery then ? I knew the geny was out of spec, but not all three inverters.

    Sorry don't know why the thread appeared twice. What would be the correct battery to battery connections cable size ? I don't even pull 10 amps out of the bank, and the 500 w max output of the panels is never even remotely achieved.
