    EICR/ Amendment

I'm kind of erring towards it may be possible, but in reality is not likely to ever happen. I doubt there is anyone on this site who has given an unsatisfactory, or even know anyone anywhere who has given one. If they have, it would be interesting to see the report.

    EICR/ Amendment

Well that's ruined my plan then. If a response from the IET will not sway you, what will? There must be an organisation that you respect or believe has greater knowledge than yourself that you will listen too? Surely that must be the IET, if they are the ones that write the spec out on the...

    EICR/ Amendment

You need @davesparks to be in your corner Westward, he was in agreement with you. If I got a response from the IET saying that it will be a satisfactory outcome if no 1,2 or FI, would you then cease to capitulate? :D

Easee one EVCP has a type B RCD fitted in it.....

I didn't get the quote! :D I had a sneaky feeling that they just wanted a cheap job. I very much doubt the next electrician will look into like I have in order to do a proper job. Still, you get what you pay for. it's good to lose a quote every now and then, shows your not too cheap.. Many...

Easee one EVCP has a type B RCD fitted in it.....

Crikey, so is my only option here to take up 3 ways in the consumer unit. A type B RCCB (2 ways) fed by an MCB? I think I may try and persuade them to buy a different unit!

Easee one EVCP has a type B RCD fitted in it.....

The route is through the ceiling, all the way to the outside (from consumer unit). Then in conduit to the EVCP. It's PME, so has fault protection from ADS. I do get a little confused about what 'doesn't' need to be RCD protected.

Easee one EVCP has a type B RCD fitted in it.....

Would this affect which RCD is installed upstream?

Easee one EVCP has a type B RCD fitted in it.....

A customer has asked me to fit an easee one EVCP. I notice that it has a type B RCD in it (I think). We are not supposed to fit a 'lower grade' RCD upstream, due to the blinding effects. Its not possible (at least not easily) to fit a type B RCBO into the 'fusebox' branded consumer unit, so I...

    House rewire-loft wiring & insulation

It would be absolutely horrible to have all the cables scattered over the top of the insulation. Also, it would make it extremely difficult, probably impossible to board, as the cables would be on top of the joists. A good electrician will know ways around this. Reusing existing holes (I...

Fault finding a neutral to earth fault on S plan?

I'm not sure. I'll be back there in 30 mins, and that will be one of my to do jobs, as then i guess I can eliminate the other 2 zones.

Fault finding a neutral to earth fault on S plan?

The RCBO is tripping on the heating system. It is actually an S plan plus. There is a neutral to earth fault of 0.02Mohms, this was tested at the FCU on the load side, with the load disconnected from the FCU. The RCBO can be on and the boiler has all its displays working, but when you press...

How to tell if type A or AC RCD without markings?

A customer has been told by British Gas that their boiler requires a type A RCD. Below is a picture of the existing CU. Does anyone know if these RCD's (CGD - control gear direct) have a marking somewhere, or, if they are just always Type A? Or perhaps always Type AC?

    Starting out help please

I believe it's quite a pathway to get registered by either Napit or NICEIC now. Not sure how to make this a link, but perhaps copy and paste it in. See post 3 by @LmarshallSparks . He has gone through the process and explains it well in this post...

    Earth leakage on high loads

I feel I may well be missing something here (Or just not read the thread thoroughly), but... Isn't it simply that there is too much earth leakage and the single RCD trips? Or even if it's a dual RCD, it may well be too much? A 30mA RCD trips at anywhere between 19mA and 23mA usually. If it's an...

Wago stopping sales of all their "grey " boxes

Can you give a link to this please Luke? I'm guessing we all use quite a few of these boxes, so it would be useful to have a good read of the article.

Is the superlec forum sponser still around?

Probably because they are cheap. They keep costs down by having a poor staff infrastructure I expect. I've bought a few things from then since my OP. I've had one more bad experience. I tend to go elsewhere now, but their prices still entice you every now and then.

What is your hourly rate as a self employed electrician? (2024-25)

Bumping this one again to try and get the population of voters over 50. More statistics on the way, even though I expect I'm the only one enjoying them :D
