How do you guys test a 110V tools transformer, I have never had occasion untill now, a local tradesman has asked if I would test his workshop and tools, I see no external earthing test point, so do I connect up the adaptor into an IEC and into the tester a Supernova, the tools I an check with the 110V outlet but the tranny has me flumoxed

i test the primary side as any appliance. then for earth bond connect earth lead to secondary E pin.

easiest way is to get an old 110v plug and connect a fly lead from the E pin sticking out of the plug.

Sometimes the screws that hold the top down will give you a another place to test .I believe you can buy a 110v test plug with an exposed test point at the rear ..if your feeling rich ..the 110v stuff i have tested has had a high rate of minor jobs needing doing to get a pass .Lots of cuts in insulation defectively plugs .no cover caps on the ext cables .I bet no ones offering this at less than a pound including repairs ...lol

Under a quid, I charge £1.60 for ammounts over a thousand items £1.85 normal and £40 minimum for bedsits staff accom etc
I know there are mobs out there doing 50p tests but, then again theres a lot of unemployment amoust clowns, cowboys and other circus acts

primary to transformer body 500v dc min
primary and secondary- its secondary may be centre tap earthed to body of transformer in an insulated container.
If not connected / or possible to disconnect secondary to lamination test between secondary and lamination-earth.
Also test as pat test. External cable other safety etc.
We test 4.5kv dc in flash test when manufacture.
Other test is give 240v input then output is above 110v eg115/120v depend on regulation.
you can use 1000v dc instead of 500v dc because all transformer has good insulation.
we connect low voltage to primary and measure secondary eg 23v to primary and measure secondary say 11v. secondary terminals to lamination is 5.5v
