hi all

i know alot of people hate the fast track routes to becoming an electrician but i am wise enough to know that with experiance comes knowledge.

anyways as per my introduction i know what i want to achieve i just need to find a training provider

i have come across this course and was wondering what the old and bold thoughts are

ableskills.co.uk/jib-gold-card.htm

thanks in advance

Rob

sorry because i am new and not allowed to post links the three W's need to go in front of the link

this course seems to have everything the only problem is building up experiance and a local electrician has offered me a chance to help him to get hands on

Hi addi564, have you since found a suitable provider for your courses? Personally, I would recommend initially going the Domestic Installer route, more hands-on experience working in the industry counts for eveything! I work for a Training Provider and to this day do not understand how companies can charge extortianate fee's that they say make you an "Electrician". We also have an Electrical Contracting Company and employ apprentices (attending college 1-Day a week to obtain their 2330 Qualification), who are out every day with qualified electrician's carrying out pir's, remedial works, doing new domestic/non-domestic installs ect and although they have been on the tools for some time still find it extremely tough! Once you have completed The Able Skills Training you will be completely on your own, having only the in-house training they have supplied, and no industry experience.

The Domestic Installer route is a cheaper and quicker option, and although you would probably be regarded as 'defined scope' - carrying out minor works in Kitchens/Bathrooms, you can evenually open the scope of works once you gain more experience and look at doing your 2395 qualification.

Positive Training are based in Harlow, they have a Website too. Hope that this helps! :xmas:
