is the makita metal cutting circular saw worth it?

i was thinking it would make cutting larger tray etc easier than a hacksaw

what do you guys think, £145 body only so is it worth a punt? (tct blade)

Yes 100% mines great! Had a job recently on a farm cutting loads of uni, takes seconds barely leaves a burr, it's neat, square, battery lasts ages. Go for it!
We even use it on solar jobs to cut the rails off at the end

i was thinking of getting one as the company got a 110v saw a couple years ago but half the time its not worth draggin out.

i dont want to carry it half a mile to cut 5 pieces of strut and it doesnt help with trunking.

thanks ill pick one up when next big job breaks out (finished metalic containment on current one)

does it cut rod or does it throw it if your not careful? i know the grinders dont

(ive got some musician ear plugs ive had for 5 years that are worth there weight in gold and you can hear every whistle and wisper that people make when your wearing them)

i would recommend there only a tenner on amazon atm, i can happily wear them all day and they dont affect your hearing

I've got a set of ACS earplugs too, though they cost a heck of a lot more than those ones! They are custom moulded though.

What are the differences between the saws torque wise ?
thats one of the reasons i wanted to ask if anyone on here nows, i couldnt see it listed. ill go through makita site and see if i can find it

cant find it, the main difference between them is 136 and 165mm blades and 3600 and 3700rpm speed

Difficult to say but from the investigations I did I think they're similar, they just get better mechanical advantage with the blade being smaller which makes the velocity of the cutting tips lower.

I still want to try a metal cutting disk on my circular saw but I can't find a local supplier. If anyone fancies mailing me one I'll reimburse you and let you know if they work.

have you tried ebay?

what size do you need marvo and ill price one up.

165mm tct metal blades are quite common (40t are recommended on youtube)

Problem is we don't have Paypal same as you guys because of exchange controls etc so it's not that straight forward for me :( Also the shipping cost is usually a killer as well.

your right a delivery weing 1kg is £50-100 depending on company
Ouch. I thought it would be expensive but it still bring tears to my eyes when I see the shipping prices. For the cost of 4 x 1Kg courier deliveries I can but an off-peak cattle class flight to the UK.
