I recently finished some work on council offices and have been provided with an as built plan from the building contractor for use in autocad. Anyway, I have Autocad 2010 and and a scale drawing from the contractor.

He wants an as fitted drawing of the electrical install, but I aint used Cad in ages and dont really know where to start, and how to get the standard electrical symbols for AutoCad.

Any help and advice greatly appreciated.

I have used Autocad Lite for elec drawings in the past. Autocad Electrical is amazingly expensive. I just drew symbols myself and created my own library. There are many elec outlets that dont have a standard symbol so I just made mine up and provided a concise legend to explain all my symbols. I would basically start with lighting layout. Draw all lighting points and switches in as fitted positions. label all circuits with DB number circuit number phase and mcb rating. Would then do some with power drawing and then if needed a misc drawing.
