Somebody here said they have dealings with AV equipment & I cant remember who?

I have a customer who wants me to move all the AV kit into a different room to the screen.
They want me to supply & install the Xantech 291 infrared distribution/extension kit, this will be used to operate 5x bits of kit (sky / dvd / vcr / projector / audio set).

The questions are:

(1) The distance from the screen to the equipment will be approx 20 meters am I right in thinking the supplied 3 .5meter cable between the sender & receiver can be extended by using cat5 or BT 2 pair cable?

(2) will I need one emmitter per peice of end equipment?

(3) wheres the best place to purchase the kit from?

(4) Do they only come with the American power units (2 pin)? as that all I can find in pictures of the kit on line

(5) Is the following list the way to go?

Xantech 291
291-00 IR recevier x1
789-44 Connection block x1
781C-00 Power supply unit x1
283M Blink IR emmitters x5
I've been quoted £160.00 for that little lot.

Cheers all.

1) yes you can extend between in room pickup and connector block easily (bare wire terminations) using Cat5/alarm cable/telphone cable

2)normally yes there are some exceptions and there are FLood emiiters available

3)depends really its fairly specialised and Xantech isnt cheap there are other systems

4)UK stock with UK PSU 240V 50hz supply

5)£160 is steep retail on that kit should be £130 ish according my pricelists....(also i think its discontinued stock) and it isnt suitable for use with Plasma and LCD flat panels that mit is about £300..............

hope this helps
