Has anybody got one of these tools??
What do you think of them ???
Would you recomend them??
Use SWA about 20 times a year.

Ive seen these advertised in CEF, i think i'll just stick to using a hacksaw!

One of the other sparks in my place has said about a pipe cutter, you know the type that plumbers use? Anybody else tried these?

I normally use a disk cutter (very carfully ofcourse) unless theres no power in the place where im working or its too restricted, then its a hacksaw and stanley knife jobby.

I use an apprentice ! works every time and saves my tools/time.
used to use knife/cutters or the hack

Strange the posts on the other thread, I use a Bladerunner and I get along with it perfectly fine. Seems much easier than a hacksaw for me, used it on 4mm 3c and it was fine. Haven't gone any higher than that yet.

I've used one on 10mm 3 core ok.
Like all things, it's not perfect but as long as you dont try to rush it's easier than a hacksaw and neater.

What size cables do they go up to? My normal size is atleast 70mm 4 core. Ive got to terminate 2 4-core 120mm this week...might invest in one if they go up that big?

I've had one for while, Its Been quite effective so far, Used probably 10-15 times, Still on the first blade. It does however struggle a little when the cable CSA grows. But otherwise a handy little tool.

Pointless tool. Done thousands of SWA's some in really tight situations, hacksaw and stanley knife worked first time every time with no problems. Workmate has a bladerunner and its not quicker or neater than the old way so i think its just a gadget for gadgets sake. Some people like having gadgets which is fine but what else can you use it for? saw and stanley have other uses too so its just another thing taking up space in my toolbox.Cant believe it has got awards for tool of the year from trade bodies!

I've got one and have used it on every size from 2core 2.5mm to 4 core 25mm and it works a treat. Must have done 50 glands and I'm still on the first blade, although it's just about dead now.

Sent some out here and they swiftly went in the bin.

Pointless things, get a better cut without twisting the wires by using a hacksaw and knife.
