I am just coming to the end of 3yrs at college doing C&G 2330.

Of the other guys that have done it, have you thought that there is way too much health & safety and repetition of course content within the course?

My fellow students and I at college have had a terrible experience at this particular college - the organisation of it has been terrible, almost farcical at times. Even when we complain we don't get listened to.

Moderators - am I allowed to name & shame this college so at to recommend to future potential students to maybe pick a different college ?

It's Calderdale College in Halifax.

Just as an example, we have just returned to college after Easter break. On Tuesday we were told that we had some written exams on 13th May (inspection & testing) and 20th May (faultfinding), 2hrs each. We only started studying faultfinding wednesday this week.

Had we been told about the exams before the easter break we'd have had an additional 2 weeks to study.

It's just generally a badly organised course.

Your not the only bad college about! City college norwich is a shambles when it comes to arranging exams and timetables!

Hey Chaps,

While on the subject of college does any one have any experience of the 2330 at Worcester college?

I think of taking the course this September

On the plus side loughborough college is pretty good teaching wise and the facilities are excellent. Also my workshop supervisor has been very helpful. I am just finishing the first year of the 2330 and going to do the level 3 next year which is just 2 days a week. It seems that next year we will be specialising in fire alarms (and possibly burglar alarms though not sure about that), previously they specialised on motor windings. What have other people specialised in during the level 3 of their 2330?

Hi, did you enjoy your first year (level 2) what was it like?

hi, yes i have enjoyed it. It has been 3 days a week, one of them is a whole day in the workshop and the other two are theory in the classroom. TBH because of my previous experience the theory has been easy but if you are interested and prepared to work a bit i can't imagine it being very difficult for anyone. The lecturers there are very helpful to anyone who shows a bit of commitment.

no probs, keep trying with the apprenticeships, a few of the lads who started the course left after a few weeks because they did finally get one. Good luck.
