Hopefully I'll be in business by the end of this week, just getting a few things sorted out...

I've read numerous posts on calibration and check boxes etc, but I'd like to clarify exactly WHAT needs to be calibrated.

MFT - Obviously.

Martindale Voltage Indicator - ?

Martindale Phase rotation indicator - ?

Proving Unit - ?

Secondary test equipment used only as a fault finding aid, eg clamp-on ammeter, electronic multimeter - ?

I'm of the understanding that if you record the reading from an instrument on a cert, it must be calibrated, otherwise only a simple check-box arrangement is necessary.

By their nature, the Martindale kit is self checking when used correctly, though certain suppliers offer the option of cal certs for them.

Thanks,

Simon.

Hi Simon,
I'd recommend the "best practice guides" from the Electrical Safety Council.
(Guidance note 7) It goes into detail about Test instruments: Accuracy and consistency and calibration.
I pretty sure it's got all the information you need.

Best regards,
Matt
