What kind of cable would you chaps recommend for power to a shed?
I haven't looked at the job yet and will use SWA if I can find a route.
If I have to go overhead what type of cable can I use withe centenary?
Any other options?

swa has got to be 1st choice for overhead and if you run 3core it will save the need for a stake,if you run t and e then it will need a stake (cpc too small) need rcd in shed either way.

Hey Li.

You can use a T+E on a catenery wire, suitably sized for whatever will be in the shed. Usually a minimum of 6mm T+E is sufficient on a domestic premesis. SY is possibly another option, depends on the risk of damage really. I have also seen SWA on a catenary before now.

I also bond the catenary wire in 4mm earth and a line tap.

Yes.

On a small overhead between a house and garden shed say. I've seen literally hundreds of these particularly on farms, and confess I have used a T+E overhead on the odd occasion myself only on a span of about 2-3m.

Depending on the op's situation a trenched armoured is a far better job.
