Coincidence????

Was doing some paperwork today and when i got fed up with it i thought i would get on to forum.

No internet!

Turned router off and on, no luck.

Turned computer off and on internet back on.

Half an hour later i get a call that's obviously from India (2 second delay) and a woman says i think you have been having problems with your computer, we can solve it!

I told her that this is a scam and told her to f*** off and put the phone down.

2 things here. (1) I wish i had strung her along a bit to see what it was going to cost.

...................(2) Was it just coincidence or can someone make you lose internet connection and try scam?

Yes it was somebody looking after your welfare.
There are people monitoring every Internet connection everywhere in the World 24hrs a day.

I've had people from India phone me several times wanting to help remove a virus from my PC. The last lot that called me claimed to be from Microsoft. I played along with them for a bit to find out what they were up to and they basically wanted me to install some remote control software so that they could take control of my PC. The web site they told me to go to, to download the software, was a legitimate site and even had a big warning on it about scamers persuading people to download their software! Not sure what they would have done if I had let them take control, installed some spyware or other nasty software I expect.
