lidl has a special offer this week on a dash cam for 30 quid... down from 50.

I might get one as it’s transferrable between vehicles, and there’s always some clown trying to overtake at a blind corner.

Anyone else use them?

I have one in the van, used it a few times when the tracker has flagged up sharp braking etc. Always good for using to stick two fingers up at our transport manager.

Mine has one in the van, a good one. It does what it does until it’s really needed for evidence then it’s priceless!
It’s easily movable on its mount so if you have your wits about you it can be used to film something that’s not motor related, if you know what I mean i.e misbehaviour, assaults etc!

Always. Not just for idiots on blind corners, but in one area where I drive a lot the latest trend is for chancers to throw themselves onto your bonnet at red traffic lights and claim you've hit them!! of course they also have a mate to "witness" the incident.

and of course, these chancers have accents east of the mediterranean

As opposed to chancers from East of the Mersey.:)

I’ve seen the YouTube video of the guy throwing his moped down in front of a woman’s car and diving on the bonnet.... mate/ witness on hand to verify it was “her” fault.
I believe she let them take her to court.... where she produced her dash cam footage and the pair of them were done for fraud.

Deffo get one. Had one for about 18 months ...

Make sure it’s HD and preferably one that you can easily transfer footage to your mobile.

Sooner or later it will save you money and your insurance NCD

I bought one from Tesco’s, took it back for a refund.
I would prefer one which can take a large SD card, runs off the car power, records continuously, has a screen and can also send to a phone or computer.

Just looking at the Lidl one.
It’s a Nextbase 112. 720p HD and requires a micro sd card.
Maybe a waste of money at £30....

I saw one similar. Same scenario but the woman get out of the car and then points at it. I presume to point at the camera. Both guys do a runner.

It says "requires SD card" so ill have to buy a separate one. Might have an 8Gig kicking around the house
I have a helmet cam, which takes a 32Gig micro SD card.
It lasts a few days, before I have to clear it.
I’ve been told it can take a larger size, but you need the 32Gig or smaller to initially set up the camera.
It can be set to automatically overwrite the card, and if you want to save a recording of an incident, you have to tap a button and it will then save what you record, and also the 3 mins before you tapped the button.

Unfortunately the battery life has started dropping off.

The unit also has BT so can be used as a headset for phone, intercom, sat nav, and even has a built FM radio.

we need that on the forum so we can effectively communicate with buzz, as long as it will work in Romulan space.
