Hi i know this is an electrical forum but I was wondering if anyone could help me, we attempted our first solar installation this week and used the schuco, the roof anchor really seemed the kick the tile up quite high, we used the SCH-256315 which has an upstand of 46mm, we looking in to it the lowest one on the schuco system is still 38mm, but if you add the batten of 19mm and tile of 10mm, its still 9mm with anchor thickness would mean a kick up of 15mm with grinding is this acceptable spoke to segen this morning and they said no one has asked before. Also spoke to schuco and they were not help, i would of thought there would be a list of the most common tiles and which anchor to use but there doesnt. The roof tiles are double romans so very common profile tiles.
Any advise or guidance would be helpful

regards
adam

I used the SCH-259750 (rise of 37.6) with double romans. They kicked up a bit, but only under the panels so not very noticable. Tiles were too thin to sensibly grind away. Also, as they interlock position the anchor so that the tile being raised is also raising the adjacent one. There is then a gentle rise and fall of tile without one edge sticking up.

It's a problem we frequently see when the wrong gauge batten has been used you can sometimes disc the back of the tile out, or, use a different bracket (another thing to check on the site survey)

Thanks for that looked at them, they look about my best option, i think its not helped by the batten being only 19mm where it would be 25mm on a newer property/roof

Had a visit from our local Hilti rep today, their system has quite a few neat things built into it, so we're going to try it in the next couple of weeks.

The most interesting thing he said though, was that his largest client that does 60 installs a week (and has an OK reputation actually) only uses ONE bracket for all installs, slate, tile etc. The 45/5 (5 mmm thick) they use Hilti packing when it needs uplifting and grind the tiles to fit neatly.

Not sure what they'd have done in your particular instance, it was an interesting comment though.

One of the items they have is a UK spec roof hook designed for our narrower rafters and takes 3 x 6mm s/s coach screws instead fo 2 x 8mm screws, also they are less offset so you don't get too near the edge of the rafter.

Thanks for the replies used the SCH-259750 and worked really well, I am speaking to the Hilti rep next week so will be interesting how they compare.

im wondering how much need's to be nibbed out & do you only exit from the ridged part??? anyone...
