If you were to test a metal staircase on the side of the house on insulation resistance and it gave you a dead short. Would that need bonding. Test was done at the MET with all parallel paths disconnected. Staircase next to class 1 metal light fittings

It would need an ohm resistance test to determine if this needed MPBC to it.
If the Class1 can be touched simultaneously with the Staircase then it certainly would need it.😎

Great thanks for the advice. Am I right in thinking though, although not the best way to test...if the IR is below 0.0067Megaohms then it would certainly need bonding. My results were 0.000 Megaohms

0.02 MΩ, then the part in question is considered as unable to introduce a shock risk and, as such, won’t require bonding.
