Mate has enquired re fitting an intercom on her freehold property, to each of three flats. I assume not fancy will-open-the-door one, and she seems to be open at the moment re video or just audio.

I reckon trickiest thing would be drilling through walls without incident, and I'm guessing new circuit would be wanted which may prove troublesome. Can't find anything re intercom systems to see different types as relates to install, more just companies flogging their services, anyone know of any links? If it comes to it, I may suggest wireless...

Drilling the walls shouldn't be too much of a risk if you stick to safe zones and double check using a stud/cable finder.

There's several different systems available, obviously the old fashioned cabled type, there's also wireless and there's data over power system which is sometimes known as PLC or power line carrier. They all vary in price but you've got to take a holistic view of how much cabling and labour is involved in each system and offset the extra purchase price of the wireless/PLC type against the savings in data cabling.

First thing you need is the customers requirements ie do they want voice only or video. Also what resolution video and colour / black and white. Are they likely to need future expansion of the system?
