I have been to look at a job today for one of my old firms and they are after some minor electrical works but in with it they want to move 2x Fork Lift Chargers to the other end of the warehouse. I have taken pictures of both chargers but can't seem to find any info online about them and the company have long since thrown the manuals away! It appears that one of the chargers has a 32a Type C supply and has a blue plug mounted under a 32a DP Isolator which is about 2m away from the D.B. The other charger is on a 3 pin plug top and has a single unswitched socket spurred off the DP Isolator!! Not great but can be sorted in the works. One of the chargers, an Oldham Super Apex has 48volts v 60amps on the front and the other (3 pin Plug) is a Westinghouse and only has 230v, 50hz, 54 amps Input.

Any help greatly appreciated

I tend to find fork lift chargers are placed next to the roller doors and often at the opposite end of the building from the DB, soooo Zs can be an issue to deal with. I would Zs before you move it and work out whether it will still be ok in the new location

Thanks for the reply mate. That would be practical but how would you go about pricing it into the job when you don't know what size cable is required etc..?

Based on the info given It looks to me like they have an input of approx. 12 amps each, so I would put them on separate 16 amp radials ('C' type breakers).
Hope that helps.

sounds about right. 60A @48V is about 12A @240V . allow a bit for losses, so a 16A radial on a C type using 2.5mm cable should kill it.

Even if the run is approx 75m??

C'mon we've given you enough info to sort this out for yourself!!!
You can now tell us how you're going to do this and what size cable etc, etc, etc. You don't want to lose face now do you?
