Good one today

Went to a property today for a non tripping RCD. !6th edition box.
Opened up the box only to find that the RCD had been bypassed and wasn't doing anythig.

Faults to 2 circuits. Proberly why the previous electrician bypassed the RCD.

This was apparently fitted a year ago by a "sparky" as the customer said he said he was a "proper electrician".

Longing for the day when we adopt the Australian code of practice.

What is the Australian code of practice then. Did the other spark leave any paperwork.

Says it all mate.All the foreigners coming here with electrical qualifications,sitting 17th ed and the Part P.Country is shot to pieces.College where i done my 17th had 2 Polish blokes on the course,1 couldn't speak english,other 1 had to translate.Work that 1 out

Ausie cop.
You have to be registered sparky. Public cannot buy electrical fittings over the counter like anyone can here. Public are not allowded to alter, mend, adjust their own wiring etc
registered electricians only, sounds too good to be true.

p.s. No paper work issued, one of these "Thanx Luv, Tataa!!"

Mac i wouldnt have translated. if they want to work here then they have to undertand the regulation,and H&S unless they get an Polish copy. If they cant read the regs how are they supposed to comply with them? "I dont undertsand " is not a legal defence.

The aussie/Nz regs are the same and people are alowed to muck about with ther own electrics but have to have it tested by a registered electrician/tester.
