Hello, I just started in the trade 3 months ago and have been told I need tools such as testers, could someone let me know whether it would be better to get a voltages and continuity tester or multimeter, and any other equipment that I would need to start off??
P.s I don’t have very deep pockets so would the cheaper options be alright to get?

my guess is they mean a voltage tester / proving dead tester which is a must in your arsenal of tools

Your employer should tell you what equipment you should be supplying and what equipment they supply.

As a new starter in the trade you'd normally he expected to have basic hand tools to start with and then build up your tools as you find out what you need.

A common rule of thumb is that you should be buying any tool that you have to borrow from a colleague more than twice.

Okay thank you
