HPD or HND??

Hi guys,
I am looking at going into doing one of the above...
Does anyone know the difference between them??

My nearest training provider runs a HPD on day release over 2 years, i was thinking of distance learning but have heard it is a lot harder

No.

The HPD is C&G version of the BTEC/EDEXEL HNC as it is at level 4.

The BTEC/EDEXEL HND is at level 5.

TBH no-one knows/has heard of the C&G HPD so I would be looking at the HNC/D.

The C&G level 4 higher diploma in building services isnt completely unheard of.
Its a qual i'd certainly consider doing at a later date for sure , especially as my local college is now charging £4000 for the HNC/D
Anyone know a ball park price for this course ?

i asked the firm i work for to pay for me to do a course, and i decided on a HNC in electrical/electronic engineering. I looked at other courses, but decided on a HNC, for the following reasons:

It has definate follow on options, Ie HND, Foundation degree, degree.
It is a respected qualification that is valuable on the tools and off the tools
Its a qualification that the company i work for recognises
The building services one was too vague, and if i want to do mechanical modules, then the HNC setup allows you to do them alongside anyway (which i intend to do)
both the electrical engineers based at our office are HNC qualified. Ive seen a lot of jobs that will accept either a degree qualified engineer, or a HNC with experience.


To be honest, i think the building services diploma is probably better set up for building services maintainance or design. The electrical engineering one is far wider ranging, and you can tailor it to what you want.

I was quoted 2495+vat per year.
Two years day release.
So the HNC/D route sounds cheaper too....!!

Wow , was expecting it to be cheaper than HND.
No funds for either course so i'll take a holiday instead lol , more fun than paying for class time.
