That's mad. It's exactly the same as my advert. The wording, the colours, the pricing!!!!!! Small world eh?

I don't like to bash individuals who come from Electrical Trainee courses as I think every individual should be judged on their skills and own merits. In this case however, I can't help think that this is a Electrical Trainee who has no grounding in this industry. Just because they are carrying out CU changes for £200 doesn't mean they would carry out a poor installation and not carry out tests correctly, however, what they are doing is totally underselling the trade. I can't see how a time served experienced spark would price anywhere near that. Surely they should be quoting around double that price?

The problem is, customers see this and then assume that sparks charging proper prices are rip off merchants.

"Getting his foot in the door technique." The next stages of this are:-

Get a call, go to gullible customers home, look at the c/u, take a sharp intake of breath whilst shaking his head and rubbing his chin (like a plumber) then say the words "You need a ten way split board my luv + tails + bonding + testing. It's going to take two days and £600 to sort out. I'll do it for £500 cash because I like you."

Then off to a shed to get a fifty quid board, use leftover tails and ten mill from last job and smile as the customer has their pants taken down. Job done in half a day, all lighting circuits on the same rcd because he can't find borrowed neutral, test sheets written at home whilst having a beer feeling pleased with himself and looking forward to his next victim the following morning.

This is what makes me mad, not that it might be a Electrical Trainee.

I think whoever it is, they're onto a good thing. Think how many you've chucked in the skip, he's going round collecting them and fitting them. Minimal testing required, free parts, no tripping issues to sort out, shared circuits and borrowed neutrals are OK.

Well it does say "Fuseboxes" so he must be fitting secondhand Wylex rewireables for that money right?
