Discuss Kick Start and Pulse Start in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hello,

Is Kick Start and Pulse Start the same?

I am no Electrician Engineer. The term Kick Start occurs in a motor control manual.

Regards.
perhaps if you were to ask your question and elaborate you may get some responses.

I need to translate a specifications sheet from a motor control manual from English to my language.

There are two parameters described like below:

Kick Start Level: from X to --- % of the DOL starting torque in X% increments
Kick Start Time: from X.X to XX Sec of the DOL starting torque in X% increments

I found no term for Kick Start in my language, but found a word for Pulse Start, after receiving a hint, it may be the same thing, but it's not confirmed.

Please advise.

Can you post a link to your manual, along with letting us know the language you wish to translate to?

I presume, as German often translates like this from manuals. That you are referring to a soft starter.

An that kick start, is actually referring to a torque boost function. The level being % torque on starting, usually 150 - 300% and time, the amount of time it will allow the motor to run over it's rated torque value on start up.

Here is the specifications, I'a able to attach right away.

Maybe this would give some context.

BTW, the "line voltage" refers to the phase line, not the mains voltage in this case, correct?
