this may be a sill question, but is there an easy way of locating the void between floors on a house for when you have to drill thru for an outside light ect, from the out side on a gable end with no upstairs windows. or downstairs windows as i usallyuse the windows as a guide to where to drill after measuring from the inside. i guess you could measure the cieling height and and 100mm any suggestions

Do as the Romans did, use a water level!
Cheap and effective!

Used mine only yesterday.
had 2 rooms where floor level was not level, wanted to get bench height sockets at same level so when room was knocked into 1 all the sockets would be perfectly level.
Went back today, wall was down, sockets perfect!

and use a small ( 3/8" bit) for a pilot hole. then if it's in the wrong place , it's only a quick dab of filler and stick the wallpaper back before anyone notices.
