Apparently, the Costco in Stevenage is going to be doing a good deal on some desalt kit at it’s opening on the 25th of this month.

Those Prime deals on Amazon whether they're tools or anything else is just a marketing ploy for Amazon Prime members believing they're getting a great deal where they focus on the RRP then look at Amazon's price not realising that a simple google search you will see them cheaper elsewhere & also realise that virtually no one is selling them for the supposedly RRP anyway.

To be fair I did just that, compared on other sites first and, for the most part, Amazon we're still cheaper.

On a side note, what's the best way to, if you can, claim back the VAT? I probably can't because I'm not registered as self-employed or whatever HMRC do to allow you to claim it back (self-assessment?) Long shot but worth a cheeky ask

Im not sure what exactly my accountant does but any tool i buy over £100 goes in the equipment column. Account for it as normal. Then each year she writes down a percentage against profits.
So all my recent dewalt kit becomes a lot easier to stomach after spending close to a grand on tools. Not sure that dewalt kit in costco is that good a deal unĺessyou are a chippy. Screwfix do regular deals on dewalt but its will price match the sheds.

You need to speak to her about that.
HMRC done away with pools for anything under £50,000 back in 2016.
