Hi guys
What tools are you using to remove the outer insulation of a S.W.A cable?
Are there any around that you would recomend or advise to avoid?
Heard of this Bladerunner , is it any good ??;)

I had a blade runner, worst £20 I ever spent.

It was ok on s.w.a up to 2.5mm 3c but crap on anything bigger even though it claims to be suitable for cables upto 16mm 4c.

You cant beat a hacksaw and stanley knife i'm afraid.

i had blade runner too .total pile of s--t ,do not buy it, i agree with lenny ,hacksaw and stanley knife always does the business.

I have a tool called a plough, availible from ETS in Portsmouth, it really is an HV tool, but works really well on big armours.

We also use Jokari's from CK, and they are brilliant bits of kit.

And I agree, the bladerunner is a pile of garbage.

Dont waste your money nothing wrong with a hacksaw works everytime about £2.00 how many beers can you have with the other £18.00:D

Chris

I agree with lenny the bladerunner is ok for small cables but nothing else Stanley with a hooked carpet blade and a Junior hacksaw.

Mind you the best tool ever invented for SWA is still the apprentice.:D

While doing some heavy cableing on friday night (4 4-core 240mm SWA) I found a stanley knife and kipex high leverage side cutters are a life saver!

The old fashioned hacksaw and stanley blade always does the trick:D

Hi,

I work with SWA everyday of the week from 4mm upto 120mm and I find the best way is the good old fashioned hack saw and stanley knife:D

Are they for removing the semi con?

If so they any good?

Never seen anyone use anything else other than a hacksaw for ringing cable and stanley knife to remove insulation
