Just stayed in a B&B overnight. Woke up to find no electricity so went downstairs to find out what was happening to find the "manager" under the stairs replacing the wire in a very old fuse. The fusebox was full of old wired fuses and there was no evidence of a modern consumer unit anywhere and certainly no mcbs or rcd of any type. When I asked when the electrics had last been checked she said that she didn't know and said that this frequently happens but the landlord won't do anything because it would cost too much.
Now, I wasn't on a job, I was merely a "guest" staying overnight. What do you think - should I report it?

I was wondering whether building control responsible for that area? I just felt that someone needs to prompt the landlord to at least have a check done. Also, I thought that B&Bs were supposed to hold a current electrical safety certificate but perhaps I'm wrong - I only stay in B&Bs I don't own one. I would hate to think that someone, unaware of the state of the electrics, could plug a dodgy appliance in and electrocute themselves because there is no rcd device anywhere, or that a fire could start from old wiring/skts/faulty appliances.
